How To Record

Welcome! Simply put, there are 4 parts to a choir: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass. Split into 2 parts each, this arrangement has a total of 8 parts.

Pick the range that feels comfortable to sing.

The recommendation is to double up (submit 2 entries, doing both 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8, etc.) or find a friend to record some parts as well. The goal is to have over 100 voices in this song.

Guidelines

No recording equipment is required. If your phone's voice memo app is the best microphone you have, use that!

  1. Wear headphones, make sure your volume is not too loud so the vocal guide is not heard through your mic
  2. Sing along to part that is on the vocal guide (1st half has lyrics)
  3. Upload files to submission form with the correct naming structure.
  4. OPTIONAL BUT APPRECIATED record a video of you singing the part so we can put together many faces for a video!~

FAQ

Q: Where do I breathe for the 2nd half of the choir? The notes are held very long!

A: Breathe at any time. Usually in an in-person choir, we can coordinate where each person breathes, but since we are all sending recordings separately, please breathe wherever you need to in order to comfortably support your voice. I will stagger the recordings in post production so everyone’s voice will merge into one continuous note. (tl;dr breathe whenever. david will use editing magic)
